2 Montgomery County Stores Make Philadelphia Magazine’s ‘Best of Philly’ Food List

Wallace Dry Goods and The Bakery House were both singled out on Philadelphia Magazine's Best of Philly Top 50 list.

Philadelphia Magazine has named Wallace Dry Goods in Ardmore and The Bakery House in Bryn Mawr to its Best of Philly Top 50 list for Food and Drink.

Wallace Dry Goods, at 1 W. Lancaster Ave., was named Best N/A Bottle Shop.

Robin Cummiskey has taken a bottle shop and turned it into a community hub.

Through tastings, events, and classes Wallace Dry Goods is a great place to learn about flavorful alternatives to alcohol, with offerings of boozeless spirits and alcohol-free wine.

The Bakery House, at 604 W. Lancaster Ave. in Bryn Mawr, received honors for Best Pie.

The Bakery House has been open since 1989, starting with cookies and pies, but over time has expanded into a full-scale bakery.

With The Bakery House, you’ll never need to show up at a holiday dinner with a supermarket pie ever again.

Though they will cost more than supermarket-bought, the pies are worth it and beautiful to look at.

Recommended is the “delightfully decadent apple-pecan-caramel pie,” as well as any of the year-round fruit pies (they manage to pull off a killer blueberry pie in winter), or seasonal offerings, like peach and strawberry rhubarb.
