Lucy Olsen has managed to position herself as one of the top point guards in the Big East in her second season as a starter for the Villanova Wildcats. Meghann Morhardt covered the Collegeville native and Spring-Ford High School grad in The Philadelphia Inquirer.

In her sophomore campaign, the 5-foot-9 athlete is averaging 12.6 points and 4.3 assists. She is also leading the team with 32 steals and ranks fifth in the country with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.82.

Olsen does it all by remaining grounded in her love for basketball, which allows her to play freely and fearlessly.

“Every game I play, I’m like, ‘This is so fun,’” said Olsen. “I’m just so excited to be here.”

Still, while she knows how to stay levelheaded on the court, like every other athlete she occasionally gets down on herself. In these moments, head coach Denise Dillon is there for her to calm her.

“She’ll come over to me and say, ‘Find your joy. This is basketball. This is fun. Find your joy, and everything else will come,’” said Olsen.
