The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Henry Savage has gathered a list of new Philly region breweries to be on the watch for this year and two Montgomery County breweries made the list.

Brass Collar Brewing Co. is a new face in Souderton. Co-owners Benjamin Israel and Brody Bisson are converting a former SEPTA train station at 100 S. Front Street into a new brewery.

The brewery’s name “brass collar” which refers to the train conductor keeps the cool railroad station vibe going.

Israel and Bisson are collaborating with Menagerie Foods, the Montgomery County company who runs the Jamaican Jerk Hut in Warminster, on yummy eats like crabcake burgers, chicken chili and cornbread.

The Brass Collar started out as a distribution-only contracted brewery two years ago right in the middle of the pandemic.

Sunset Hill Brewing Co. at 2782 Leidy Road in Gilbertsville is creating a fresh take on the brewery experience with its idyllic farm setting.

Brothers Brett and Josh Firely opened the brewery earlier this year and are planning on expanding the property so they can offer outdoor farm fun as well.

“We’re trying to make it more like an agritourism type of brewery where you can check out the farm property, explore walking trails and educational programming,” Josh Firely said.
