Two Montgomery County creators are among the ten Philadelphia-area clothing and accessories designers to watch during Philly Fashion Week, writes Elizabeth Wellington for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Atelier H in Bryn Mawr, founded by designer Himanthi Wanninayake, offers stand-out pieces such as belted, kimono-style dresses and silken wide-legged trousers, all in bright, unique prints made from polyester satin.

“This is not a runway collection, it’s a practical collection,” said Wanninayake. “It’s upscale boho chic meets west.”

The designer moved from Sri Lanka to the United States over two decades ago to study fashion. Her prices range from $150 for a blouse to $350 for a dress.

American Trench recently opened a new specialty boutique in Ardmore. After a decade in the trench coat game, the brand’s owner Jacob Hurwitz reconstructed his classic raincoat design and came up with a new fit that is neither “too slim, nor too bulbous.”

The roomier coat is available both at the store and online with basic wax cotton for $598 or a sleek ventile cotton for $849.

For the spring, American Trench is planning a hoodie collaboration with Norristown sportswear brand Camber.
