Norristown’s American apparel maker, Camber, has partnered with global fashion outlet, Highsnobiety, according to Noah Johnson for Highsnobiety.
The family-owned business drew the attention of Highsnobiety through a personal connection. Camber is known for its heavyweight sweatshirts and uncompromising standards. Highsnobiety’s Johnson visited the Camber factory several years ago and built a rapport with founder Barry Schwartz. When Johnson floated the idea of a collaboration, Camber quickly agreed.
The centerpiece is a reimagined version of Camber’s cult-favorite 231 Cross-Knit zip-up, rebuilt with the company’s signature Max Weight T-shirt fabric. A matching pair of shorts was also developed, after extensive sampling and color deliberations. In a rare step for the heritage label, Camber even introduced new fabric colors—including a light pink—that were incorporated into the release.
Johnson styled the campaign himself, tapping writers Sami Reiss, Sophie Kemp, and Chris Gayomali to showcase the line. The collection highlights both Camber’s craftsmanship in Norristown and Highsnobiety’s ability to merge fashion storytelling with community-driven projects.
For Johnson, the project is both tribute and collaboration—honoring Camber’s history while opening a new chapter for the iconic Norristown brand.
