Conshohocken is now offering commuters a unique form of transportation, writes Kenny Cooper for WHYY.

In an effort to reduce traffic woes and sustainability concerns, the borough is now offering residents and visitors a shuttle bus.

The 14-passenger Conshohocken Cab will stop at 20 locations across the borough, and it will only cost $2 to ride through the downtown area to the new SEPTA train station.

The new mode of transportation was made possible through a partnership with the Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Agency.

“We can really make this useful and fun and convenient for not only our residents but for visitors to the borough,” said Shauna Wylesol, a borough administrator, and the shuttle project coordinator.

The Conshohocken Cab is ADA-compliant. Seniors with a SEPTA pass, and minors accompanied by adults ride free.

For right now, there will just be one shuttle bus on the road, but in the future there may be more.

The goal of the project is to reduce the number of single-occupancy vehicles on the road as the Conshohocken population continues to grow with new developments and businesses.

Wylesol said the borough wanted to have better options to handle traffic flow that also made sense from an environmental perspective
