Owner of Takumi Bistro & Bar in Wayne Expands to King of Prussia, Has Plans for More Restaurants in Region

Eddie Zheng, owner of many regional restaurants, has another one planned for King of Prussia.

Eddie Zheng, CEO and co-founder of Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, is planning on bringing the restaurant chain to the King of Prussia Mall. With Takumi Bistro & Bar in Wayne under his belt, along with other Asian-style eateries in the area, his goal is to spread traditional Chinese food to a region, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Zheng has been a resident of Philadelphia for 20 years. During this time, he has opened Takumi, Qu Japan Bistro & Bar in Center City and the King of Prussia Mall, Blue Sunday Bar & Grill in Bensalem, and Top Pot & Korean BBQ in New Jersey. Zheng is not done yet, as he wants to add six more restaurants this year.

He chose nearby King of Prussia for its location and the lack of Chinese restaurants with a similar concept. The menu is known for its delicious crab and pork soup dumplings.

“There’s no similar restaurant in that area so far, so we’re trying to bring the soup dumpling and the more authentic Chinese food to the area,” he said.

Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao will open at the site of the former Outback Steakhouse. It will be able to seat around 260 people and outdoor seating will be available when the weather permits. He hopes remodeling will be finished in March.

For his expansion plans in the future, Zheng wants to open a sister concept to Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao called Nan Xiang Express in University City and another Philadelphia location.
