Allen Iverson is one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Even though the sport of basketball has long favored taller players, some who are much shorter than the average NBA player have still been able to make their impact felt, writes Frank Urbina for HoopsHype.

To recognize those very players, HoopsHype has compiled a list of the “Top 20 greatest short players in NBA history,” defined as being 6 feet tall or shorter.

At number two on the list is Allen Iverson

After being drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1996, Iverson became a cultural icon for his impact both on the court and off.

His elite quickness and speed, coupled with his overall strength and toughness, made him a sight to see in an era full of big enforcers.

During his career, Iverson racked up seven All-NBA selections, 11 All-Star Game nods, and an Olympic bronze medal.

Iverson’s most successful year came during the 2000-01 season, when he was named the league’s Most Valuable Player – the shortest and lightest player to ever win the award in league history.

That year, he also led the Sixers to a Game 1 win in the NBA Finals over the Los Angeles Lakers, the team’s only playoff loss during a run that culminated in a second straight NBA championship.
