This week Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital in East Norriton celebrated the official launch of its new helipad, writes For MediaNews Group.

Now JEFFSTAT air ambulances can transport patients with critical medical needs quickly to the hospital or transfer patients safely to other hospitals in the Jefferson Health system without the need for ground transportation.

The helipad is the result of the support of the Friends of Einstein’s 2021 Harvest Ball, from the hospital’s Board, JeffSTAT as well as government officials, contractors, and Jefferson leadership.

The celebration was attended by representatives from the East Norriton Township police, fire, and Emergency Medical Services, hospital board members and senior leaders, JeffSTAT members, and community partners.

Before the new helipad, air ambulance helicopters had to land across the road and transport patients to and from the hospital via ambulance. That spot will now be used as a backup helipad.

At the end of the event, attendees were able to meet the JeffSTAT pilot and flight crew before the helicopter took off back to work.
