The success of the menswear company American Trench is a great hometown story. The creators of the brand both live in Wynnewood and are graduates of Lower Merion High School, writes Melissa Jacobs for Main Line Tonight.

Jacob Hurwitz and David Neill’s menswear brand American Trench has fans worldwide, and now the duo is opening a brick-and-mortar store in Ardmore.

American Trench features a line of menswear that is both classic and modern. Its socks, coats, scarves, hoodies, and other items are all designed by Hurwitz and Neill.

The name was inspired by the trench coat. They wanted to create an American version of Burberry’s classic trench coat.

They founded American Trench in 2013 and have been based out of Ardmore for ten years, but this will be the first American Trench store.

“We ship and store all of our merchandise from Ardmore,” Hurwitz said. “We outgrew the space we were in, so we decided to open a store to give us both storage and retail space – and a way to interact with customers.”

The store will also carry items from Hurwitz and Neill’s casual wear brand Original Equipment and items from other upscale independent brands like Corridor NYC and Greg Cordeiro’s Easy Mocs.
