Philadelphia-born actor and comedian Kevin Hart has added his name to the list of celebrities joining the $15 billion tequila industry, writes Trey Williams for Fortune.

Last year, Hart debuted his new tequila brand, Gran Coramino.

Since its debut, Gran Coramino has seen the second-fastest sales growth for a new premium tequila brand in the last 20 years, according to beverage market research firm, IWSR.

This endeavor started in 2020 when Hart began partnerships with Global Brand Equities CEO James Morrissey and Jose Cuervo CEO Juan Domingo Beckmann

“This was an opportunity where I got to invest and be a part of the process from the ground up,” Hart said.

Within one year of launching his tequila brand, Hart’s Gran Coramino sits in the top 5% in sales across the entire tequila category, according to Nielsen data.

Hart, the North Philadelphia native, is no stranger to entrepreneurship.

In addition to Gran Coramino, he is also the founder of venture capital firm, Hartbeat Ventures, Laugh Out Loud digital network, and vegan fast-food chain Hart House, among other businesses.

“I don’t think I’ve done anything to date where there’s a half effort or one foot in, one foot out approach,” said Hart.
