The Philadelphia region is full of locations that have served as the backdrop for iconic works of cinema. Some of them were shot on the Main Line, including Montgomery County, according to Ben Silver from Main Line Today.

Royersford was one of the many locations scattered across the suburbs where The Lovely Bones (2009) was filmed. The drama about a tragedy haunting a family features Saoirse Ronan.

Penn Valley-raised M. Night Shyamalan is known for his homages to the Philadelphia area in his work. The Sixth Sense (1999) is mostly shot in Philadelphia, but some scenes were shot in Bryn Mawr.

Obsession (1976) was another thriller that featured the bustling Main Line town. Although none of the scenes took place in Bryn Mawr, it got a notable mention in one scene when the character, Michael Courtland, talks about his wife’s “Bryn Mawr walk.”

Most of Silver Linings Playbook (2012) was filmed in Delaware County, but some scenes took place at Norristown Hospital. Philadelphia (1993) is an Oscar-winning drama about the AIDS crisis. The name of the film speaks for itself, as most of it was shot in The City of Brotherly Love. It also has a scene filmed across from Merion Train Station.
