Teenagers are coming into an age where financial literacy and management is a much-needed skill, and Ambler Savings Bank is offering them the chance to jumpstart their way to monetary know-how with the Honors Banking Program.

Offered to all students in 9th to 12th grade, the spending and savings accounts offer a variety of perks for first-time bank users. The account comes with a free debit card, access to Apple Pay and Google Pay, the ability to send money with Zelle®, a free mobile app with account alerts, and free online banking.

To top it off, students can earn a monetary reward for good grades, each year they qualify. Those with a cumulative end-of-year weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher can receive $50 a year as a bonus. All students have to do is bring in their report card or transcript by August 31 to be eligible.

All accounts for students under 18 require a parent or guardian to be the joint account owner. To open an account, visit one of their branches with your parent/guardian and provide the following:

• Student’s name, birth date, Social Security number, and form of ID. (Acceptable forms of ID include: passport, Social Security card, state ID, driver’s license, birth certificate, or school-issued ID.)

• Parent/guardian, address, phone number, Social Security number and picture identification, such as a driver’s license or passport.

• An initial deposit (cash or check).

The bank has branches in Ambler, Bally, Fairview Village, and Limerick and is a member for the FDIC. Students can sign up for an account at any of the four locations.
