Abington Free Library Celebrates National Read a Book Day with Free Books, Rita’s Water Ice

The National Merit Scholarship Program is a national competition for recognition and scholarships.

On August 31, children can enjoy free books and free Rita’s water ice at Abington Township Public Library in honor of National Read a Book Day.

The event, which is sponsored by the Abington Police Athletic League and the library, will take place between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the library which is located at 1030 Old York Rd. in Abington.

If you’d like to donate books to “Rit-a Book Day,” you can drop them off in the box in the lobby of the Abington Township Police Station at 1166 Old York Road.

National Read a Book Day is held annually to encourage a culture of reading in the U.S.
