Kathleen Fry of Glenside is considering a permanent move to the Emerald Isle at the age of 67 after spending months there living like a local, writes Fionnuala Boyle for the Irish Star.

Fry said that Ireland just feels like home. Both her father and maternal grandparents came to the United States from County Mayo and she has always had a deep affinity for the people, culture and land.

Growing up, she was immersed in the Irish culture, and when she visited Ireland for the first time in 2015, she discovered that she had a lot of relatives still living there.

She has made several trips back there over the years, but there never just seemed to be enough time. Now, at the age of 67 though, she has the freedom to spend more time exploring her family’s homeland.

In May, she decided to move semi-permanently to Claremorris and plans on being there for at least four more months. She said she wanted to know what life would be like if she was born and grew up in Ireland like her father did.

Already, she has traveled all over the country soaking in all the history, culture and music. She is in the process of deciding if she is ready to make the full move to Ireland.
