An Irish American couple who first met and then got engaged at Philadelphia’s McGillin’s Olde Ale House will tie the knot in Ireland, not far from Dublin, writes Fionnuala Boyle for the Irish Star.

Brianna Amato and her fiancé Tyler Parisi will fly out 100 guests for a destination wedding on the Emerald Isle in September next year.

The couple met at McGillin’s Olde Ale House on Drury Street in Center City in 2015. McGillin’s bills itself as the oldest continually operating pub in Philadelphia.

They quickly hit it off through their joint love of sports. They started dating, and in 2021, Parisi brought the girl of his dreams back to the bar where it all started and popped the question.

Since an Irish pub held such an important place in their relationship, they decided the best way to spend their big day would be in the country itself.

This will be the pair’s first visit to Ireland, despite both of their families hailing from that country.

“We’ve always loved Irish culture and history, and with our family background, we thought, let’s not do a traditional wedding like on a beach or somewhere tropical, let’s do it in Ireland,” said Amato.
