The Montgomery County Planning Commission is hosting a free lunchtime webinar for anyone interested in historic preservation opportunities in the county on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from noon to 1 p.m.

Scott Francis, the director of the Montgomery County Planning Commission, said that historic preservation offers many benefits to the community including adding character, supporting economic development and environmental sustainability, and improving quality of life.

“This webinar will provide guidance on historic preservation options available to communities in Pennsylvania, including types of ordinances to consider and inspirational local examples,” he said.

“Participants will learn common misconceptions about preservation and gain a deeper understanding of how to use the tools available in Pennsylvania to pursue the type of preservation framework that is most appropriate for a particular place.”

Speakers at the webinar include Megan McNish, Eastern Region Community Preservation Coordinator for the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office, a bureau of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, Tim Konetchy, Community Planner II at the Montgomery County Planning Commission and Chloe Mohr, AICP, senior community planner with the planning commission.

Registration is required. More information is available at montgomerycountypa.gov.
