A Philadelphia-based education and advocacy group for families — Kutest Kids’ Parents as Teachers — is launching a new support group in Montgomery County. It’s called Moms Open to Healing, Elevating, Rest, and Support (MOTHERS). Laura Brzyski profiled it in Philadelphia Magazine.
The group will meet monthly for various activities that range from educational seminars to stress-relieving, connection-building outdoor strolls.
Monthly mixers will focus on postpartum mental health, as well as caregiver wellness.
The organization’s programming starts Apr. 21 with the ProMOMenade Mommy & Me Walk along Boathouse Row in Philadelphia.
On May 7, a special pre-Mother’s Day event is scheduled: Mindfulness Begins Here.
“Moms in general are overwhelmed, under-appreciated, overworked,” said Vonee Hill, executive director of Kutest Kids’ Parents as Teachers and MOTHERS founder.
She lamented their consistent habit of subjugating their own medical and mental health needs for those of their families. “This group was created by mothers for mothers, and positioned her group to inspire worthwhile reprioritization.
“This group was created by mothers for mothers,” Hill concluded.
