2023 Bucks-Mont Spelling Bee, Held in Ambler, Awards Third Place to Competitor from Harleysville

The 2023 Bucks-Mont Spelling Bee at Wissahickon High School, Ambler, saw eighth grader Luke Huang take third place. WFMZ 69 News reported the complete results.

Huang represented Indian Valley Middle School in Harleysville.

The first- and second-place winners were both from Bucks County.

Priana Khant — who attends Pennridge Central Middle School in Perkasie — won first place. She beat 32 other contestants, finishing the competition by correctly spelling plagiarism. Khant is a two-year champ, having also taken the Bucks-Mont best-speller title in 2022.

For her latest display of skill, she advances to the 2023 National Spelling Bee in Maryland this Memorial Day.

She also received a trophy, a U.S. Mint proof set of coins, and two years’ digital subscriptions to the Merriam-Webster Unabridged Dictionary and Britannica Online.

Abhiram Kaakarla, an eighth grader at Tamanend Middle School, Warrington, earned second place.

Among the event’s sponsors was the Council for the Advancement of Public Schools, a resource founded to promote the success of Bucks and Montgomery County secondary educational institutions.
