Wissahickon High School, Shipley School Star and Son of Basketball Legend Billy Owens Joins Syracuse
Chaz Owens, Wissahickon High School and The Shipley School star and son of basketball legend and All-American Billy Owens, will join Syracuse this season, writes Neil Adler for the Inside the Loud House.
Owens, who suited up for two stanzas each at the two schools, is unranked by 247Sports and Rivals.com but is considered to be an under-the-radar player with tantalizing attributes. These include a terrific athleticism and his ability to finish off plays well both around the basket and above the rim.
In late February, the 6-foot-5 small forward got two scholarship offers from Division II programs, Clarion University and Georgian Court University. However, he decided to wait it out to see what developed and is now joining Division I Syracuse as a freshman on a scholarship.
During his time as a senior at The Shipley School in the 2018-19 season, he managed to average 11.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest. He also spent the last year at Scotland Campus doing a post-graduate program.
