The study reflects the state of the fitness industry in June 2022, arriving at a national analysis.
Data were sorted by “location quotients,” a ratio comparing:
- Industry employment (or average wage) in an area
- National share or average wage
A location quotient greater than one indicates a share of fitness employment higher than the national average.
Montgomery County’s fitness location quotient was 1.5, a data point confirmed by its number of employees, 3,174.
That figure represents the highest number of employees in the fitness field among all local counties:
- Bucks County: 1,848
- Delaware County: 1,519
- Chester County, 1,519
Montgomery County fitness professionals also earned an average weekly pay of $341, third in comparison:
- Bucks County: $472
- Chester County: $367
- Delaware County: $299
