The shopping mall will close after two years of business in a popular area.

A shopping mall in the area, The Mercantile, is closing after only two years of local business. Michele Haddon wrote about its shuttering in the Bucks County Courier Times.

Leadership of The Merchantile, an artisan shopping mall located in the Doylestown Shopping Center, recently announced its upcoming closure, set for Jan. 22.

Having opened in the fall of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic took a large financial toll on the majority of the shops in the center.

“After long consideration we have come to the decision that our time of service to this incredible community will soon be coming to an end,” said business owners in a statement. “When we created this temporary project, it was born out of a need to help artists, makers, crafters, and small businesses most severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The mall was positioned as a hub for artisan merchants selling their wears. Photographers, clothing designers, jewelry makers, and painters were just some of the artistic business owners were among its vendors.
