On Oct. 29,140 runners crossed the finish line at Wissahickon High School for the first ever Do Better 4 Steve Fearless 5K.

All proceeds from the event go to disabled and disadvantaged kids in and around the Ambler and Wissahickon School District. Over $20,000 was raised from the runners, sponsors, and a $5,000 matching grant from Ambler Savings Bank.

“We are proud to support Do Better 4 Steve in helping youth in the community with resources and opportunities they would not have otherwise,” says Roger Zacharia, President and CEO, Ambler Savings Bank.

Do Better 4 Steve was established to honor Steve Cammarota’s legacy to help disabled and disadvantaged youth in the community achieve their fullest potential.

Cammarota was known for dedicating his life to others in his community. Despite being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease as a young child, Cammarota made it his mission to serve others and make a difference and to “do better.”

The disease ultimately took his life, but his memory lives on.

Do Better 4 Steve aims to inspire others to Do Better, as Cammarota wanted.

More about his outreach is online.
