Littlest Phillies Fans at Huntingdon Valley School Celebrate Team’s Advancement to World Series

Students and faculty at St. Albert the Great Catholic School in Huntingdon Valley made a lot of noise in celebrating the Phillies' advancement to the World Series.

The littlest Phillies fans at St. Albert the Great Catholic School in Huntingdon Valley celebrated the team’s advancement to World Series, writes Marcella Baietto for CBS 3 Philadelphia.

Pre-K to 8th-grade students ditched school uniforms and put on their best fan gear as they watched a recap of the game that clinched the team’s place in the championship series.

“I was watching the game celebrating with my family,” said 8th-grade student Olivia Grannells. “It was really exciting.”

Around 340 students gathered to cheer and sing for their team.

“This is actually our first assembly since the pandemic, so this is extra special for us and we’re very excited about this today,” said principal Sandra McDevitt.

Siblings Michael and Rhylinn Polec said that the team’s win was the perfect birthday present for their mom.

The win was “really, really good,” said six-year-old Rhylinn. “But the cool thing is that it was our mom’s birthday yesterday.”

The kids will be donning their Phillies red once again on Friday when they plan to raise the roof once more while rooting for a Phillies’ win against the Astros.

More about this raucously red celebration for St. Albert the Great Catholic School students and faculty is at CBS 3 Philadelphia.
