The hair care company was founded by Mumbi Dunjwa, a Carnegie Mellon University graduate and chemist.

The company develops three-part hair care systems using natural and organic ingredients specifically aimed at people with curly hair.

This hair care system helps nourish and repair hair damaged from heat and chemical treatment. The company serves both clients with larger curls and those with tighter ringlets and coils.

“I am our customer,” said Dunjwa. “I get her, and she gets us.”

Naturaz offers its products online as single units and as a subscription. The products are being marketed to professional women ages 25 to 65 who are health conscious and shop online.

Dunjwa is now seeking a way into large beauty companies such as Procter & Gamble.

She received a commitment for a total of a total $225,000, with all five investors – or lions – participating.

Her goal is to raise $1 million, and she already has an additional $125,000 from other investors.
