King of Prussia Mall’s Teen CEO of Spergo Streetwear Brand Appears on ‘Shark Tank’
Trey Brown, the 15-year-old CEO of streetwear brand Spergo with a location in King of Prussia Mall, appeared on Friday’s episode of the hit ABC show “Shark Tank,” writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Brown got his start in February 2018, after using $178 in birthday money to buy 16 T-shirts, which officially launched his designer lifestyle apparel brand.
Since then, the company has amassed more than 93,000 followers on Instagram and the teen is now operating two brick-and-mortar stores, one in the King of Prussia Mall and one in the Pentagon City Mall.
During the episode, Brown asked the show celebrity investors for a $300,000 investment in exchange for a 10 percent stake in his company.
His pitch certainly made an impression on the hosts and by the end of the episode, he had secured an investment from Daymond John for a 20 percent stake in Spergo.
“It was a one-take thing, I knew I had to go hard,” said Brown. “Your first impression is your best impression. I was practicing so long, I knew I had to give it my best.”
