Jimir Reece Davis, aka Amorphous, who is the internet’s hottest DJ right now, learned his craft by performing beatboxing sets and rapping for his family while growing up in Montgomery County, writes Brandon T. Harden for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Davis had already released several viral projects, including a mashup album of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s hits.

However it is his mix of Luther Vandross’ “Never Too Much” and Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” that have put his name on the national map. This caught the attention of many A-listers in the business, including Issa Rae, Jazmine Sullivan, Oprah Winfrey, LL Cool J, and John Legend.

The song, titled “Sunshine (The Light),” was released as a single last month by Fat Joe and DJ Khaled. The accompanying video has reached nearly 7 million views on YouTube.

The song had its debut on the Billboard charts this week with three placements, including as number 10 on Rap Digital Song Sales.

Now, Davis is working on his first album.

“There’s going to be stuff coming very, very soon,” said Davies. “And also there’s some stuff happening behind the scenes to help out and use my platform for amazing causes.”
