Before the pandemic hit, the business was flourishing.

Juice Dr. found its niche in selling cold-pressed, raw, organic juices throughout the region and beyond.

But when coronavirus forced bars and restaurants to close, Leto saw his entire wholesales business evaporate.

He then had to choose between closing his company and reopening when life returned to normal or trying to make it work. He chose the second option, refocusing on his subscription business.

The company doubled down on its subscription-based “immunity boxes” with juices and organic produce or an immunity line of pre-made meals – both of which can also be picked-up at Leto’s Ardmore eatery Blue Pearl.

By July, his sales were up over the previous year, even with his wholesale business gone.

“We did it just with subscription deliveries, which is what I wanted to do in the first place,” said Leto.
