Kenneth C. Frazier is chairman and CEO of Merck, the pharmaceutical giant with substantial operations in Montgomery County.

Meanwhile, Andréa Frazier is the founder of Frazier Designs, an interior design firm.

The foundation has made the gift to the American Heart Association’s Bernard J. Tyson Impact Fund. The donation will be directed to local nonprofit organizations and social entrepreneurs who are working to improve North Philadelphia residents’ access to health care, food, housing, and economic empowerment.

The Heart Association will hold a virtual town hall on February 11 to get community input on where additional support is needed. The donation will be distributed in two rounds.

“Social and economic determinants have a profound impact on health outcomes in our communities,” said Andréa and Kenneth Frazier. “We are grateful for the opportunity to help support the Tyson Fund as it implements entrepreneurial solutions to address this issue.
