If you do not like the idea of throwing away your Christmas tree once the holiday season is over, there is a much better way to dispose of it, writes Gina Tomaine for Philadelphia Magazine.
The Philly Goat Project is hosting tree-cycling at Awbury Arboretum on select dates. To participate, you need to contribute your tree and $20 towards charity in support of the project.
The tree will either serve as a delicious feast for the goats or will be turned into wood chips that will help line local trails, goats’ paddocks, and parks.
The monetary donation will go toward the project’s mission of using “goats for the greater good” as well as providing free programming for the community throughout the entire year.
This will include “the Ramble” – a monthly inclusive, sensory-friendly space for people with disabilities and their friends and family.
The tree-cycling will be available on Saturday, January 9th, and Saturday, January 23rd. The trees need to be undecorated. And if you stick around, you can even watch goats chow down on your tree.
