Thanks to a generous donation by the Abramson Family Foundation, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will open the first dedicated pediatric emergency department in King of Prussia in the fall, writes Gary Puleo for the Daily Local News.

In recognition of the $2.5 million gift, the hospital will name the new facility after the late Madlyn K. Abramson. The Madlyn K. Abramson Emergency Department will be constructed next to CHOP’s existing King of Prussia Specialty Care & Surgery Center and Urgent Care.

According to Dr. Jan Boswinkel, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the CHOP King of Prussia Hospital, the expansion has been part of the CHOP vision for a long time.

“King of Prussia has always been an important part of the CHOP footprint, and we anticipated that we would continue to expand our services in the future,” said Boswinkel.

The new department will include 20 beds that will be equipped with the latest technology and the most advanced diagnostic equipment. There will also be a 24/7 pediatric emergency department that will have the option of quickly transporting patients when necessary.
