As the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continues to increase, some Montgomery County hospitals have reached capacity for their number of available ICU beds, write Matthew Conlen, John Keefe, Lauren Leatherby, and Charlie Smart for The New York Times.

For the seven days ending December 17, the hospital with the highest ICU occupancy in Montgomery County was Abington Memorial Hospital at 108 percent.

The hospital currently has 150 COVID-19 patients and no available beds left in its ICU.

Suburban Community Hospital in Norristown also reached capacity with 17 COVID-19 patients and no available beds.

Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in East Norriton and Holy Redeemer Hospital and Medical Center in Meadowbrook are nearing capacity at 95 percent with just one available ICU bed each.

Meanwhile, Lansdale Hospital is at 88 percent ICU occupancy with two available beds, while Bryn Mawr Hospital stands at 83 percent and six beds.

Lankenau Medical Center is at 72 percent occupancy and seven available ICU beds.

The hospital with the lowest ICU occupancy in the county is Pottstown Hospital at 59 percent. The hospital has seven available beds.
