The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County continues to rise, but the county still remains in the lower half compared to the rest of the state and nationwide, according to a map published by National Geographic.

Since the coronavirus outbreak began, Montgomery County has recorded 24,495 confirmed cases causing 961 reported deaths.

In the last two weeks, there was one new case reported for every 155 people or 5,282 total. This is the second-lowest number of reported cases in the region per capita, behind only Chester County.

Montgomery County also recorded 39 new deaths or one in every 21,059 people.

In Pennsylvania, the county with the fewest recorded new cases is Pike at one in 356 people, while the county with the most new cases is Montour at one in 32 people.

Nationwide, Montgomery County is significantly below the counties with the highest number of new cases, including Lincoln, Colorado at one in 13 people.

However, the county is still recording significantly more cases than some of the lowest areas nationwide, including Eureka, Nevada at one in 1830.
