Conshohocken-based Aardvark Mobile Health is fighting the spread of coronavirus by helping people get tested where they are, writes Courtney DuChene for The Philadelphia Citizen.

The company’s owner, Larry Borden, decided to shift gears from his original advertising business, Aardvark Mobile Tours, when he had to close shop due to the COVID-19 outbreak. He outfitted his truck to test people for COVID-19 and hit the road.

Since the launch, Borden has taken his trucks to Texas, Florida, and New York, and most recently to Philadelphia. The goal is to reach the communities in most need.

The company’s trucks look like a combination of a U-Haul van and a walk-in clinic. They are equipped with heat and air conditioning systems and a generator for electricity. There are also labs where nurses administer a test in one part of the vehicle and find out the results in another.

“We wanted to create the perfect vehicle for COVID testing,” Borden said. “We found out if we could create a vehicle with negative air pressure and separate the nurse from the patient that the nurse” would be totally protected.
