New York State Fair 2020 Butter Sculpture Created By Conshohocken Artists Gets Virtual Unveiling
The butter sculpture created by Conshohocken artists Jim Victor and Marie Pelton for New York State Fair 2020 was virtually unveiled earlier this month, according to a staff report from FOX 40.
Despite the cancelation of the fair, the 52nd Annual American Dairy Association North East Butter Sculpture was brought to life on the New York State Fairgrounds over a 10-day period by the husband and wife team.
The theme of the sculpture was “Nourishing Our Future.” It pays tribute to those who ensure children are nourished and learning both in school and at home, such as dairy farmers, school nutrition staff, teachers, and parents.
The two-sided, 800-pound butter masterpiece depicts a dairy farmer giving milk to a child who is learning at home with his mother next to him and a “virtual” teacher on the laptop screen. On the other side, the sculpture portrays a child learning in school along with a school nutrition worker who is delivering a meal tray to the classroom.
Victor and Pelton have created the sculptures for New York State Fair for the past 18 years.
