After 2nd Round Upset, King of Prussia-Born Ann Li Prepares for 3rd Round of US Open
After upsetting No. 13 seed Alison Riske in the second round, Ann Li – born in King of Prussia – is ready to take on former US Open champion Angelique Kerber in the third round, writes for the US Open News.
Li started playing tennis as a 5-year-old because she was tagging along with the lessons of her older brother. As a junior, her highest ranking was No. 12 in the world. Her highest achievements include winning the Wimbledon girls’ doubles title in 2016 and reaching the finals of the 2017 juniors at Wimbledon.
A few weeks after her Wimbledon finals loss she won a $15,000 tournament in Indiana on the ITF Women’s Circuit.
After losing her first qualifying match at the US Open in both her first year and in 2018, last year she then made it to the second qualifying. She built on that progress by qualifying for the Australian Open in 2020, where she won her first-round match. Now, she has outdone herself by making it to the third round of the 2020 US Open.
