Three Montgomery County individuals are among the fifteen local leaders under the age of 30 who are making serious waves in the community, writes Lisa Dukart for the Main Line Today.

Eighteen-year-old Samantha Dichter of Penn Valley got her entrepreneurial and philanthropic start while hosting fundraisers for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation as a kid. Then in high school, she created Amethysts for Alzheimer’s, a jewelry business that benefits the Alzheimer’s organizations, and continued to develop it as a student in the Philadelphia chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy.

Meanwhile, sixteen-year-old Joanna Lin of Upper Dublin started weekly craft sessions while volunteering at Sunrise Senior Living.

“Through crafting, you can often stimulate seniors and their minds, especially those with Alzheimer’s,” said Lin, a Germantown Friends School student.

Lin is expanding her initiative after launching the Spring Sprout website in the hopes of implementing the same program at other senior homes.

Finally, fourteen-year-old Casey Stone of Lower Moreland Township, co-founded Traci’s Tribe after a family friend died of ovarian cancer. In its inaugural January event, the Huntington Valley-based nonprofit managed to raise over $47,000 for Fox Chase Cancer Center.
