Audrey Greenberg, co-founder and executive managing director of Discovery Labs in King of Prussia, is one of the trailblazing women in Philadelphia’s healthcare revolution, writes Queen Muse for the Philadelphia Magazine.

Greenberg manages one of the world’s largest life sciences and technology facilities. She is also heading the development of the Center for Breakthrough Medicines, another scientific discovery and manufacturing hub in King of Prussia.

Once the project is complete sometime next year, the hub will be one of the largest contract development manufacturing organizations for cell and gene therapy in the world.

However, achieving this level of success was not a problem for Greenberg once she learned one of the most important leadership lessons in her career.

“Leadership is taken, not given,” she said. “Stand up for yourself and your views, and speak up. Grab your seat at the table, don’t wait to be invited.”

Additionally and most importantly, she said, “treat others how you want to be treated yourself.”

Another important tip she gives future leaders is to lead by example.

“Roll up your sleeves and do the hard work alongside your team members,” she said.
