As the coronavirus outbreak continues, St. Margaret Church in Narberth has started live-streaming services for families that are currently on lockdown, writes Cassie Owens for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Last Thursday, in what was the first for the parish, the church live-streamed the Funeral Mass for Helen O’Rourke. Her daughter, Terri Fischer, and other members of her family watched on their couch in Switzerland.

Fischer, who is a Merion native, had bought tickets to fly home knowing that her mother was living her last days.

Sadly, by that time new travel restrictions were implemented, including an order for Americans returning from Switzerland to self-quarantine.

Fischer was not exhibiting any symptoms and has not been tested for the coronavirus, but she knew there was a chance she could be asymptomatic.

Not wanting to risk infecting the rest of her family back home, she decided to stay in Zurich, albeit with a heavy heart.

Her spirits were lifted when she learned she would be able to stream the funeral.

“Just seeing my family stand up and give witness to my mom was really powerful for me,” she said.
