The Jenkintown girls’ basketball team is looking to crown amazing three seasons with another district title when they face Chester Charter in the Class A final on Feb. 27, writes Kevin Cooney for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Over the last three years, the team has managed to win 86 of its last 89 games, two District 1 Class A championships, and a PIAA state title in 2018. Their record for the current season is 26-0.

“We’ve been blessed the last few years to have tremendous student-athletes, parents and a lot of people who have put a lot of hard work into our program,” said Jenkintown head coach Jim Romano.

The defense players have especially stood out this season, holding their opponents to under 40 points in 20 games out of 26.

And while Jenkintown’s small size can easily get overshadowed by bigger programs and higher profile leagues that usually draw more attention, the team just uses that as more motivation.

“As long as we have our fans behind us, we know everything is going to work out great,” said Molly Walsh, who averaged double figures in scoring this season.
