The new episode of the ABC show “Schooled” will focus on the Penn Charter and Germantown Academy football rivalry, one of the oldest rivalries in the Delaware Valley, according to a staff report from 6abc.

The show is a spin-off of “The Goldbergs” created by Adam Goldberg, a Jenkintown native. While the original follows the fictional version of Goldberg’s family, the spin-off is based on the teachers and students at Penn Charter where he went to school.

The game between Penn Charter and Fort Washington-based Germantown Academy will be featured in the episode “Titanic Love.”

“The PC/GA Day was unlike any rivalry,” said Goldberg. “With roots dating back to 1887, the games were legendary and the school spirit for that week was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. There is tremendous pride for the athletes, the students, and the alumni.”

He added that on the show, the goal is to keep both the teachers and the history of the school as close to real life as possible.

“This was a wonderful opportunity to bring attention to those storied rivalries to our TV audience and fans,” he said.
