Manor College is excited to announce that it will honor the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board at this year’s “Evening with Manor” gala on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 6 pm. Evening with Manor, the college’s largest fundraiser, has been celebrated for nearly three decades.
“Our Evening with Manor is our premiere event of the year where we present the Community Leadership Service Award to recognize both the philanthropic and professional contributions of an organization or individual,” said Dr. Jonathan Peri, President of Manor College. “We are just elated that this year Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board, led by President & CEO Mike Bowman, are our award recipients owing to their incredible community impact and their beyond-sector synergies and inclusiveness.”

The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (VFTCB) is an award-winning, private, non-profit membership-based sales and marketing organization which actively promotes Valley Forge and Montgomery County by encouraging patronage of its more than 600 member hotels, restaurants, attractions, and services, such as Manor College’s Ukrainian Heritage Museum. Its mission is to inspire the world to fall in love with Montgomery County, PA. The organization’s vision is to make Montco a must-experience destination, rooted in the past and leading the future. The organization’s efforts contribute to the large positive economic impact of tourism in Montgomery County, which accounts for $1.6 billion and 20,000 jobs.
“On behalf of the entire staff at the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board, we are so humbled to receive this honor from such a prestigious institution,” said Mike Bowman, President & CEO. “We value education, and our partnership with Dr. Peri and his team at Manor. Kudos to the VFTCB team, their hard work, and efforts in promoting Montgomery County. Both Manor and our organization are committed to raising awareness about arts, culture, and history in our community. Manor is a true leader in higher ed, and we have the utmost respect for all the work that the amazing folks do there, so to be recognized by them is very rewarding.”
Past recipients of the Manor College Community Leadership Service Award have included Dr. Robert Orsher (veterinarian and president of PAWS) and Leonard Mazur.
“This is our chance each year to honor a group or a person that is not only successful in what they do, but make the world a better place by doing it,” says Kimberly Hamm, Vice President for Advancement at Manor College. “Valley Forge has been a great partner. We are grateful to be a part of their network and proud to support them in their mission to advance Montgomery county and all we have to offer.”
Additionally, Manor College is pleased that an alumna — restaurateur Gina Burke ’82, co-owner of Glenside’s TreVi — will be catering Manor’s premier event which is being held at the Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center.
