Today a happy family with a baby, Sherilyn and Kevin Lau of Elkins Park met when Kevin was the only one to show up for an informal tennis meet-up organized by Sherilyn, writes Anndee Hochman for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

That first meeting went well for both as Sherilyn was taken by how funny and smart Kevin was and was impressed by his tennis skills. Meanwhile, he thought she was beautiful and strong-willed and wanted to see where that first meeting would lead.

The pair soon started dating and after a short engagement period, they were married on Oct. 10, 2014. They choose the 10/10 date because a score of 1-0 is called “one-love” in tennis.

At first they were ambivalent about children, but as time passed, they decided it was to time to add a member to their family.

However, after a fistful of negative pregnancy tests, a positive one announced the not-so-distant arrival of their daughter, Kara.

Their daughter was born on April 22, 2019, to the delight of new parents, who believe their little girl is already “pretty amazing.”
