With its dedicated staff and volunteers, Narberth Ambulance is helping residents and saving lives day and night on the Main Line, writes Melissa Jacobs for the Main Line Today.

The nonprofit is headed by chief Christopher Flanagan, who has held the elected position for 24 years. Flanagan is also superintendent of Radnor’s police department.

The team includes several members who have been with the Narberth Ambulance for over a decade. These include Lt. Marie Eckman, an emergency medical technician who has been with the nonprofit for 19 years.

Meanwhile, paramedic Amanda Sanday has 11 years of service in various squads.

Some of the volunteers have also been with the squad for years. Olivia DeLorenzo, a senior at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, has been with Narberth Ambulance for almost two years. During that time, she has risen through the ranks and will soon reach command, the highest level for volunteers. Her time with the squad has also confirmed her desire to become a doctor.

Among others, the team includes eight pre-hospital nurses with special training for ambulance work and a physician response team of ER doctors on call for complicated cases.
