Whole Foods looking to take a bite out of former Sears locations

What’s the old saying, One man’s trash is another man’s treasure?

Amazon is looking hard a empty, former Sears stores to open new Whole Foods Markets, a company it acquired in 2017, and there are multiple former Sears and Kmart locations across Montco.

Amazon recently announced its intention to carry out a nationwide expansion of the grocery store chain it acquired for $13B, writes Matthew Rothstein for biznow.com.

With Amazon now at the helm, Whole Foods is shifting its target market from major cities and suburbs to the heartland of America, which is now accessible through delivery from Amazon Prime, in an effort to keep pace with the giants in the game, Kroger and Walmart.

While the strategy has not been made public, there seems to be a ‘direct line’ from the areas Amazon is looking to move into and a host of boarded up Sears and Kmart locations.
