Pretty Tasty Cupcake debuts in Conshohocken
When Conshy Girls Restaurant Group owner Kim Strengari (Gypsy Saloon, Southern Cross Kitchen and Gypsy Blu) walked into Erica Young’s Pretty Tasty Cupcake Boutique in Cape May, NJ last summer, she didn’t know that it would literally be life-changing.
One bite into a Cookie Dough Brownie Cupcake and she was hooked! After tasting her way through the variety of creative cupcake flavors, Strengari reached out to Young with an offer she couldn’t refuse. The two paired up, along with corporate catering and event planner Gabby Wallace, and opened Pretty Tasty Cupcake, a 100 percent nut-free bakery at 1602 Fayette Street in Conshohocken, PA, according to a press release.
Cape May native, Erica Young began her baking career due to the unfortunate allergy of her then six-year-old son, Nevan who has a severe peanut and tree nut allergy. He couldn’t have cupcakes at school or have birthday cake at friend’s parties. He felt different and left out. So, Young started making cupcakes that Nevan could safely enjoy. She shared her cupcakes with family, friends and co-workers and received rave reviews. When a retail space became available, she made the jump to become a full-time baker. Soon she was flooded with requests for weddings, birthdays and special events. All of Pretty Tasty Cupcakes and baked goods are 100% peanut and tree nut free.
Back in Conshohocken, the power trio brought on a fourth woman, head baker Ali Albini, and are rolling out six flavors to start, along with daily selections: Chocolate Salted Caramel, Cookie Dough Brownie, Sugar Cookie Snowflake, Pink Champagne, Lemon Berry and Hot Cocoa. Flavors will change seasonally. Other offerings include homemade chocolate chip cookies and colorful macaroons that are almost too pretty to eat. Strengari and Wallace will oversee the day to day operations. While, Young will develop more flavors from her shop in Cape May.
The official grand opening of Pretty Tasty Cupcake will be this weekend, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
