Pat Gillick, the Philadelphia Phillies former president and general manager, and the team’s ace pitcher Roy Halladay will be inducted to the teams Wall of Fame this summer. The induction ceremony will take place prior to the team’s Aug. 4 game at Citizens Bank Park as part of the Phillies Alumni Weekend festivities.

“This will be a very emotional evening as we not only honor the memory of Roy Halladay, but also pay tribute to his extraordinary accomplishments on the mound as he becomes the 39th inductee of the Phillies Wall of Fame,” said David Buck, the Phillies executive vice president, writes John George in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Halladay, who died in November at the age of 40 after his plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico, will be one of only four Phillies to be inducted into the Wall of Fame without a fan vote. The other three were Charlie Manuel, Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton.

Halladay spent four seasons with the Phillies. He pitched the second perfect game in Phillies’ history in 2010 and, in his first postseason start that same season, threw the second no-hitter in Major League Baseball postseason history.
