King of Prussia’s Nexxt Finds Philadelphia Has Trouble Being Recognized As Major Job Hub

A new survey from King of Prussia’s Nexxt, the recruitment media company, shows that Philadelphia has trouble being recognized as a major job hub.

A new survey from King of Prussia’s Nexxt, the recruitment media company, shows that Philadelphia has trouble being recognized as a major employment hub compared to other large cities on the East Coast.

The survey examined what job seekers in Greater Philadelphia are looking for in their next career, and revealed that the main benefits of working in the region include culture and affordability.

Over 600 men and women participated in the survey. The results showed that healthcare and technology are the industries that currently attract the most job seekers.

It also found that when looking for a new job, most people in Greater Philadelphia are first looking for competitive pay, followed by a positive work environment and a reasonable commute.

Also, nearly 70 percent of younger job seekers found the region’s affordability extremely attractive.

However, around 63 percent felt that the area does not offer the same long term career opportunities as there are in Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C.

“Philadelphia suffers from an image problem,” said Joe Weinlick, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Nexxt.

“Despite the resurgent restaurant scene and attractive lifestyle, professionals still look with envy at the opportunities in nearby metropolitan areas.”
