Montgomery County is welcoming its longstanding and new bridal wedding expo as wedding options around the country continue to evolve, writes M. English for The Times Herald.

The tenth annual King of Prussia Bridal Show and Expo by Bouche Productions will be at the Crowne Plaza hotel on September 10. Along with local vendors showing their latest designs, the event will include a fashion show and a panel of experts to answer questions and provide planning tips for the special day.

The tradition of unusual and spectacular weddings is nothing new to Montgomery County, as the region has seen its fair share of unique or less traditionally style weddings.

One such ceremony was performed several years ago on New Year’s Eve by Conshohocken Mayor Robert Frost at the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The bride wore her mother’s “hippy dress” purchased in the 70’s at Plymouth Meeting Mall and a pair of Uggs. Also, foregoing the usual entertainment options, the happy couple was serenaded by big rig drivers using their air horns as they tied the knot.

Even today, Frost still refers to “the truck stop special” as one of the most memorable weddings he has ever performed.
