Embark on Some Holiday Fun on Trains of Yesteryear Near Montgomery County

If you are looking for family fun this holiday season, don’t forget your tickets for one of the cozy and entertaining holiday train rides near Montgomery County, writes Kalena Thomhave for The Keystone.

This is the time of year when Pennsylvania’s tourist railroads offer guests a chance to step back in time and enjoy holidays of olde.

Here are some of the railroads closest to Montgomery County.

In Boyertown, you can step back into the Civil War era on the Colebrookdale Railroad.

During the holiday season, the railroad runs several different holiday rides including the one-hour “Twas the Night Before Christmas” ride, “A Visit from St. Nicholas” and the “Snowflake Special.”

In New Hope, the New Hope Railroad offers Santa’s Steam Train Ride. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with each child on the train and give them a gift of sleigh bills just like in “Polar Express”.

The railroad also offers a similar train ride on a diesel train called Santa’s North Pole Express Train

And in Lancaster, the Strasburg Rail Road offers different Christmas steam train rides throughout November and December.
